Four years as a Deputy Mayor has grown me to a bigger liability.

Daniel
I am running for Mayor of Helsinki
I’m Daniel, a city politician and lawyer for whom Helsinki has always been home. I currently serve as Helsinki’s Deputy Mayor and as a member of the City Board. This is my second term on the Helsinki City Council. My main goal in politics is to create perspectives and inspire confidence in the future. I want to build a strong and stable Finland—one where everyone is taken care of, hard work leads to success, people have the freedom to pursue their dreams, and the opportunity to build a good life that reflects who they are.
I believe that our society and our time call for decision-makers who focus on solutions. Less panic, declarations, and fearmongering. More direct and concrete solutions that generate optimism and faith in the future. This principle guides all my social and political activities. Issues first, personalities second.

Helsinki is the city of my first school day, first beers, first date and first own home.
Helsinki
One and only home
I let out my first cries at Kättäri, fished perch in Mätäjoki, placed 84th in Paloheinä’s inter-school skiing competition, set up scouting checkpoints in Keskuspuisto, and marched in a parade at Senaatintori. I’ve celebrated at Pakila’s VPK, the Merimelojat boathouse, Hietsu, Ullis, and Ylis. I’ve collected study credits in Portsu and beer pong points in Pykälä, marched with a mortar tube on my shoulder in Laajasalo, and jogged around Lauttasaari on my evening runs.
Helsinki is, and always will be, my one and only home. I’ve lived here my entire life, and honestly, I have no desire to go anywhere else.
This is a growing and prosperous city with a bright future—if we work for it. Nothing comes for free. Helsinki must raise its level of ambition in everything it does. A mayor must be able to build trust between political groups and lead a vast administrative system. Above all, we must remember that Helsinki is home to nearly 700,000 people. They deserve a city that is run with dedication and professionalism—not with petty political bickering.

The task of the Mayor requires ability to build bridges across political boundaries.
